Deborah Sternberg 

Deborah Sternberg is President of Starmount Life Insurance Company and joined the company in 2006. Before joining Starmount she was Associate Producer for CBS and covered the 1998 & 2000 election seasons with Dan Rather. Her other experience includes being VP at Goodman Media International a PR firm in New York and being Chief of Staff for a US Senator. She graduated from Magna Cum Laude from Colombia University with a degree in political science.

Valencia Richardson

Richardson as an LSU alum currently living in Mexico as a Fulbright Scholar and is the founder of Geaux Vote on LSU's campus and was the editor-in-chief of The Gumbo while at LSU. She joined the show to discuss her initiative to get student ID cards to start meeting voter identification requirements in Louisiana. 

Tom Schedler

 

Tom Schedler is the Secretary of State of Louisiana and has been since 2010. He is at the forefront of getting millions of people in Louisiana to go vote. He joined Jim to give updates on voting and voter turnout in Louisiana.

Medved is an American radio show host, political commentator and film critic. His show The Michael Medved Show is based in Seattle and airs throughout the United States on Salem Radio Network. He called into the show to talk to Jim about the 2016 election.

Gus Weill

 

Gus Weill is a former public relations specialist originally from Lafayette, La. He gave his intake on the 2016 presidential election.

Senate candidate Fayard joins the show at the beginning of the show to talk about her campaign.  She addresses misrepresentations by Foster Campbell and distinguishes herself from the other candidates.

John Fleming

Senate candidate joins the show to talk about his campaign and how Donald Trump would prove to be a much better President in terms of the Justice system.

Foster Campbell

Commissioner Foster Campbell talks about the allegations from Caroline Fayard's campaign in the Senate race.  Campbell talks about the presidential race and his position in the Senate race.

Renee Chatelain

CEO of the Baton Rouge Art Council Renee Chatelain chats with Jim about the Manship Theatre's decision to promote Louisiana's recent ties with Cuba. Manuel Valera and New Cuban Express will perform November 10 at 7:30 pm

Pollster from Southern Media and Opinion Research, Bernie joins the show to predict outcomes of the senate and Presidential election. 

Darrell Glasper

Darrell Glasper is a Republican and joins the show alongside Bernie to talk about his views on the Presidential election and its outcomes.

President of LSU Alumni Association Cliff Vannoy joins the show with former football player Jerry Dumas to talk about the donations from alums and how much the contributions matter to the university and its students.

Jerry Dumas

Former LSU Football player, Dumas talks about LSU and Alabama football with Cliff Vannoy and reminisces on when he played for LSU.

Greg Lafleur

Greg Lafleur is running for Mayor-President. Lafleur was also a football player for LSU. He joins the show to talk about football at LSU and the issues that he feels Baton Rouge should focus on the most.

HOUR TWO

Darryl Gissel

 Gissel is running for Mayor of Baton Rouge. He joins the show to explain that running as an independent will help people of the community to move past party affiliations.

George Sells

Former WAFB anchorman George Sells joins the show to vent about numerous topics with Jim.  Sells talks football, community and politics.

Mary Stein

Mary Stein from the East Baton Rouge Parish Library promotes author Cynthia Ulrich Tobias, who will be speaking at the library Saturday at 9 a.m.

11/3 Thursday: Bodi White, Phil Preis, Charles Boustany, Steve Barnes, Ken Perret

Bodi white and Phil Preis

Bodi White is a current Republican member of the Louisiana State Senate and is a candidate for mayor-president in Baton Rouge; He was joined by a supporter of his, Phil Preis. White is a Baton Rouge native and a Southeastern Louisiana University alum. He attended Loyola for graduate school and has six years of experience with law enforcement. 

Charles Boustany 

Dr. Charles Boustany is a retired physician and a Republican candidate for the Louisiana State Senate in 2016. He is a native of Lafayette, Louisiana and has served as a US Representative for Louisiana's 3rd congressional district since 2013.

Hour Two

Steve Barnes

Steve Barnes is a well known journalist in the state of Arkansas and has been on air since 1968. He got his start as a copy boy in Little Rock for KTHV-TV and went on to have work published in the New York Times and received the University of Arkansas journalist of the year award. 

Ken Perret 

Ken Perret is a candidate for the District 9 seat for the Metro Council of Baton Rouge. He is an engineer with experience in the federal and state highway departments. He received a degree in civil engineering from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He joined The Jim Engster Show to discuss his candidacy and more. 

 

Jeff Palermo

Jeff stopped by briefly to discuss this weened's LSU vs Alabama game and the team's chances of wining; he also gave his take on the Chicago Cub's win in the 2016 World Series.

Mark Emmert

The head of the National College Athletic Association joins Jim at the Manship School of Mass Communication on LSU's campus for the LSU Sports Summit.  Emmert talks about the rules of the NCAA dealing with paying college athletes and how the association determines punishment or infractions.

Joe Nocera

American journalist and author and New York Times Op-Ed columnist discusses the topic of whether college athletes should be paid or not.

HOUR TWO

Ben Strauss

Co-author of of Indentured, about the NCAA with Joe Nocera, Strauss joins Jim over the phone at the Manship School at LSU to discuss wealth in college sports. 

Tim Brando

Tim Brando was also a part of the Sports Communication Summit at LSU.  Brando is a sportscaster with FOX Sports.  He talks with Jim about his opinions on college athletics and revenue in the NCAA. 

Tom Schedler

The Louisiana Secretary of State joins Jim over the phone and talks about the upcoming Presidential election and the turnouts for early voting in the state of Louisiana.

Fairleigh Cook Jackson 

Fairleigh Cook Jackson is the executive director of the Foundation of Historical Louisiana. The organization looks to promote historical preservation across the state of Louisiana. They will be having their 18th annual gala this Thursday on November 3. Jackson is a native of New Orleans and an LSU graduate.

Corey Fields

Fields joined the show to discuss his book, 'Black Elephants in the Room: The Unexpected Politics of African American Republicans.' He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at Stanford and a faculty affiliate at the Center of Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity at Stanford.

Peter Finney jr.

Peter Finney jr. stopped by to discuss the 50th anniversary of the founding of the New Orleans Saints on November 1, 1966. He is the son of Peter Finney sr., a famed sportswriter that passed away this past summer. 

Hour Two

Mary Reilly

 

Reilly is an event organizer and dating expert who goes by the name the DateMeister. She is co-authoring a book titled, 'Date Defensively: How to Know When To Get Off At The Next Exit.' She graduated from William Smith College with a degree in English. She joined the show to discuss dating and older women having relationships with younger men.
