Melissa Flournoy joined the conversation surrounding Mike Yenni and his sex scandal involving a high school teenage boy. She also discussed Sen. John Kennedy and more happening in Louisiana politics.

Fred Simonson

 

Louie's Cafe general manager Fred Simonson was here to talk about the murder of Donald Smart, a dishwasher at Louie's for 20 years. Smart was murdered on Alaska St. by LSU. Police speculate that the murder of Donald Smart and another Black man, might be racially motivated.

Saints historian William Taylor was on air with Jim to remember the first regular season game for the Saints. The anniversary of the game is September 17, 1967. This photo is of John Gilliam making a play during the game.

Mark Calvit is the executive director of Southside Gardens Retirement and Assisted Living. Calvit came in studio to talk more about his business, LSU football and other various topics.

Paul Arrigo is the head of Visit Baton Rouge. Arrigo was here to chat with Jim about many things including the anniversary of the first football game for the New Orleans Saints and how he attended the game as a young man.

Strickland will discusses the many and varied services available under our state department of veterans services to Louisiana veterans, and what the need is. We hear from the field, how much money our offices bring into the state each year connecting veterans with a vast variety of veterans’ federal benefits, and the increased number of deployments of Louisiana soldiers that are coming this year and in the months ahead.

Mike Steele

Steele discusses post-Irma recovery, and what happens in statewide post-storm response at this stage in the immediate days after the storm, what specifically Louisiana is doing to help Florida, like many of our leading first responders being there in Tallahassee helping Florida coordinate its response, all the power trucks headed that way from our state, and some really encouraging information on all Louisiana has done to help Harvey’s survivors, including how our Governor’s suggestions to improve FEMA’s Shelter At Home program are going to be helping Harvey survivors now.

Jay Grymes

Jay Grymes is the Chief Meteorologist for WAFB. Grymes talked with guest host Leo Honeycutt about the aftermath Irma and, current state in Florida and the peak of hurricane season being over. He also discusses how a hurricane forms. 

 

Jim Crane

Jim Crane is a State Farm Insurance Agent and joined Leo Honeycutt to talk about the importance of having food insurance in Louisiana. 

 

Hour Two

Chris Ferrara, Butch Browning and Hunt Downer 

Chriss Ferrara, Fire Marshall Butch Browning and Major General Hunt Downer were on air to talk about the 16th anniversary of September 11th and Louisiana's response to the tragedy. Louisiana was the first state to deliver a firetruck to help the effort. Chris Ferrara's company headed the building of the truck.

Mike Foster

 

Former Louisiana Governor Mike Foster joined the conversation on the 16th anniversary 9/11. Foster was governor during the September 11th attacks and served as governor from 1996-2004.
