Walt Whitman’s journalistic series, “Manly Health and Training,” were lost for more than 150 years, buried in an obscure newspaper that survived only in a handful of libraries. The series was uncovered last summer by a graduate student.  Ed Folsom teaches at the University of Iowa and talks to Jim about the recovered series that is now available to the public.

Political consultants Scott Wilfong and Dayne Sherman join Jim to discuss their views of the opposite sides of the presidential election.  Wilfong, long time Trump supporter, explains why he thinks Donald Trump will become commander and chief.  Sherman opposes Wilfong, favoring Hillary Clinton over Trump.

John Bel Edward's employees and describes his determination when he ran for office.   Wray talks to callers about the presidential race since Ted Cruz has dropped out Tuesday night and the outcome of the next president.  Mary Wray also promotes the honoring of women leaders at the Girl Scouts Louisiana East 2016 Women of Distinction awards luncheon on Wednesday, May 11 at the Renaissance Baton Rouge Hotel.  One of the honored guests will be former Louisiana Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco.

Veteran journalist Dan Moldea explains the seriousness of the presidential election especially since Donald Trump has become the presumptive nominee.

Coroner Beau Clark is joined by Troy Prevot from LCTA Workers Comp to talk about the heroin epidemic, and the rise in addiction especially in Louisiana. Clark explains the stages of addiction while Prevot claims that the majority of accidents at work are related to us opiates.

Maria Toorpakai grew up in Waziristan, controlled by the Taliban,  and it is still considered one of the most dangerous places on earth.  It is a place where women don't have the right to leave their home unaccompanied. It's no place for a young girl to play outside.  Maria tells the story of how she disguised herself as a boy to hide from the Taliban so she could play squash.  Her book, "A Different Kind of Daughter", released today May 3.

Stovall took over at LSU in 1980 as an emergency hire following the death of then-head coach Bo Rein.  He talks football and the NFL Draft with Jim and also his years spent as the president of the Baton Rouge Sports Foundation.

Shawn Wilson of Lafayette is the Secretary of the state Department of Transportation and Development. Wilson witnesses the infrastructure of Louisiana everyday in his commute from his residence in Lafayette. He plans to fix roads and reduce traffic with the resources given considering budget cuts.
