Mark Ballard

Mark Ballard of the Advocate talks about some of the bills being discussed in the Legislative Session and also addresses what will be discussed in the upcoming special Session.

The Vice President of the National Press Club joins Jim to talk about Donald Trump's attitude toward the First Amendment. He feels that Donald Trump misunderstands the role a free press plays in a democratic society and with that attitude, would not make a good president.

Tom Feltner

Tom Feltner is the director of financial services at the Consumer Federation of America, he talks about aiding Americans with their payday loans. 

The Consumer Federation of America said the "ability to repay" standard proposed by the CFPB is an important step forward because it will help ensure that consumers can make loan payments without falling behind on housing, child care and other expenses. The advocacy group also praised the effort to deter payday firms from repeatedly trying to collect loan payments directly from a customer's bank account, noting that millions of borrowers get hit with overdraft and other fees.
