Columnist Quin Hillyer talks to Jim and callers about Donald Trump and Hillyer's opinions of Trump becoming the presumptive nominee.

Tyler Bridges

Tyler Bridges of The Advocate discusses a few bills with Jim including the proposed bill to authorize the installation of special cameras in law enforcement vehicles that would scan license plates of passing cars and match them to a state database to catch uninsured motorists.

Leo Honeycutt talks to Jim about former governor, Edwin Edwards.  Honeycutt wrote a biography on Edwards and today, May 9, marks the 16th anniversary of his conviction and the 44th anniversary of his first inauguration.

HOUR TWO

Chris Tyson

The LSU Law Professor who ran for Secretary of State last fall is back on the show with Jim to discuss some issues in politics today.  Tyson talks to callers about the issue in North Carolina regarding LGBT and the segregation of restrooms.

We look back at the life of the singer from Baton Rouge, John Fred Gourrier.  Joining Jim to discuss the life of the artist is David Bondy from LUBA Workers' Comp.  David and Gourrier's wife Sandra describe what it was like to know John some years ago.

Ed Folsom

Walt Whitman’s journalistic series, “Manly Health and Training,” were lost for more than 150 years, buried in an obscure newspaper that survived only in a handful of libraries. The series was uncovered last summer by a graduate student.  Ed Folsom teaches at the University of Iowa and talks to Jim about the recovered series that is now available to the public.

Scott Wilfong & Dayne Sherman

Political consultants Scott Wilfong and Dayne Sherman join Jim to discuss their views of the opposite sides of the presidential election.  Wilfong, long time Trump supporter, explains why he thinks Donald Trump will become commander and chief.  Sherman opposes Wilfong, favoring Hillary Clinton over Trump.

John Bel Edward's employees and describes his determination when he ran for office.   Wray talks to callers about the presidential race since Ted Cruz has dropped out Tuesday night and the outcome of the next president.  Mary Wray also promotes the honoring of women leaders at the Girl Scouts Louisiana East 2016 Women of Distinction awards luncheon on Wednesday, May 11 at the Renaissance Baton Rouge Hotel.  One of the honored guests will be former Louisiana Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco.

Veteran journalist Dan Moldea explains the seriousness of the presidential election especially since Donald Trump has become the presumptive nominee. 

HOUR TWO

Beau Clark & Troy Prevot

Coroner Beau Clark is joined by Troy Prevot from LCTA Workers Comp to talk about the heroin epidemic, and the rise in addiction especially in Louisiana. Clark explains the stages of addiction while Prevot claims that the majority of accidents at work are related to us opiates.

George Morris of The Advocate has a blog about WWII. The blog reflects on history's greatest conflict. Morris tells Jim about the stories of soldiers, sailors, Marines, airmen and civilians, people he has met as a reporter for Louisiana's largest daily newspaper, The Advocate.

Clay Higgins

After resigning from his position, Former Captain Higgins has released a new video.  Higgins joins Jim on the show to address rumors of running for a office in Louisiana politics.

Maria Toorpakai

Maria Toorpakai grew up in Waziristan, controlled by the Taliban,  and it is still considered one of the most dangerous places on earth.  It is a place where women don't have the right to leave their home unaccompanied. It's no place for a young girl to play outside.  Maria tells the story of how she disguised herself as a boy to hide from the Taliban so she could play squash.  Her book, "A Different Kind of Daughter", released today May 3.
