George Morris of The Advocate has a blog about WWII. The blog reflects on history's greatest conflict. Morris tells Jim about the stories of soldiers, sailors, Marines, airmen and civilians, people he has met as a reporter for Louisiana's largest daily newspaper, The Advocate.

Clay Higgins

After resigning from his position, Former Captain Higgins has released a new video. Higgins joins Jim on the show to address rumors of running for a office in Louisiana politics.

Maria Toorpakai

Maria Toorpakai grew up in Waziristan, controlled by the Taliban, and it is still considered one of the most dangerous places on earth. It is a place where women don't have the right to leave their home unaccompanied. It's no place for a young girl to play outside. Maria tells the story of how she disguised herself as a boy to hide from the Taliban so she could play squash. Her book, "A Different Kind of Daughter", released today May 3.

Former LSU Football Coach, Jerry Stovall

Former LSU head coach Jerry Stovall, who took over at LSU in 1980 as an emergency hire following the death of then-head coach Bo Rein. Stovall recalls what it was like to be drafted in the National Football League years ago. Stovall took over at LSU in 1980 as an emergency hire following the death of then-head coach Bo Rein. He talks football and the NFL Draft with Jim and also his years spent as the president of the Baton Rouge Sports Foundation.

Dr. Shawn Wilson

Shawn Wilson of Lafayette is the Secretary of the state Department of Transportation and Development. Wilson witnesses the infrastructure of Louisiana everyday in his commute from his residence in Lafayette. He plans to fix roads and reduce traffic with the resources given considering budget cuts.

The Kimbrough Scholars Program is a conducted CRRJ summer program since 2014 with Southern University Law Center students. Melvin Kelley and the Kimbrough Scholars stop at SULC during their week long visit to the Baton Rouge area, April 25-30, as part of their investigation of a Jim Crow and Civil Rights era cold case. The 1940 case involves the death of Horace “Booster” Williams in Pointe Coupee Parish.

Dawn Starns, a veteran Baton Rouge lobbyist and grassroots activist, is the state director of the National Federation of Independent Business. Starns and Jim discuss the possibility and reasons necessary for increasing minimum wage in the state of Louisiana.

The director of a group called Sensible Marijuana Policy for Louisiana, says changing out "prescription" for "recommendation" allows doctors and pharmacists to get marijuana to patients without risking their federal license with the Drug Enforcement Agency. Karen feels that there is overwhelming evidence that marijuana is one of the safest available treatment options, when used at the direction of the physician.

Barnett is the first female to enlist in an infantry combat position in the U.S. Army. After being in law enforcement for three years and she has been working to go into the infantry since the department of defense allowed women in this role.
