11/19 Thursday: Syrian Refugee Crisis, Saturday's Gubernatorial Election

Hour 1:

Jason Berry

Louisiana journalist, Jason Berry, discusses the Syrian refugee crisis and the gubernatorial election. Berry's latest work is Fear of Syrian Refugees Inflames Louisiana Politics. Berry says we have more people who are being shot in movie theaters than terrorist attacks in the US. 

Scott Wilfong

Republican political consultant Scott Wilfong joins Jim in studio to discuss this Saturday's gubernatorial election. Wilfong comments on Gov. Bobby Jindal dropping out of the presidential election. He also mentions the progress of the republican candidates for Lt. Governor Jeff Landry and Buddy Caldwell. 

Hour 2:

Dayne Sherman

David Diamond

Political Consultant Dayne Sherman and Rev. David Diamond join the conversation to discuss their feelings on the gubernatorial race. Diamond supports Republican Senator David Vitter. Sherman says this is an election with an Army Ranger versus a hooker chaser. 

Diamond says the social issues should take priority over the financial issues when electing a governor. Sherman says the government's job is to do what the Constitution says. 


11/18 Wednesday: Candidates for Lieutenant Governor, and the Louisiana Gubernatorial Election

HOUR ONE: 

Billy Nungesser

Billy Nungesser is the President of Plaquemines Parish.  He is also a candidate for lieutenant governor.  He shares his campaign message and his plan for improving Louisiana if elected.  "What better job could I ask for?  Louisiana is a sportsman's paradise," Nungesser says, "If I believe in something, I can sell it.  And, I believe in this state."  

Kip Holden

Kip Holden is the Mayor of Baton Rouge.  He is also a candidate for lieutenant governor.  He also shares his campaign plan and how he will better Louisiana if he defeats Billy Nungesser.  "The response has been overwhelming," Holden says, "I'm watching the words 'hope' appear in the eyes of many people." Holden also says he is backing John Bel Edwards for Governor. 

HOUR TWO:

Lanny Keller

Lanny Keller is an editorial writer and columnist for The Advocate.  He shares his article 'The forgotten man in the 2015 race for governor.'   Keller shares his experiences "tracking" Edwin Edwards on his campaign in 1991.  He also comments on Governor Jindal's drop from the 2016 presidential campaign.  He says, "I suspect there was just very little financial support to someone who has not transmitted enough from the polls." 

11/17 Tuesday: Greg Meriwether, The 2016 Economy, John Bel Edwards

Hour 1:

Greg Meriwether

Anchor and reporter with Baton Rouge's WAFB, Greg Meriwether, comments on last night's gubernatorial debate and the how Democrat John Bel Edwards and Republican David Vitter attacked each other. Meriwether says Vitter's strategy is changing, he's openly addressing his sex scandal. 

Loren Scott

LSU Economist Dr. Loren Scott predicts the price of oil gradually rising through the next few years. Scott says the supply of oil is falling. He says if oil prices stay where they are, that's bad news and isn't good for the state's budget. 

Scott says the employment rate in the state is flat. He says the next governor of Louisiana makes a huge impact on the future of the Louisiana economy, his focus is on growth.  Scott also discusses the minimum wage. 

Hour 2: 

John Bel Edwards

Democratic for Governor, John Bel Edwards, joins the show to discuss his position on the entry of Syrian refugees into Louisiana. He supports Jindal's letter sent to President Obama requesting more information on the refugees in the state.  Edwards also comments of last night's gubernatorial debate.  

Governor Bobby Jindal announces he is dropping out of the 2016 presidential election. 

11/16 Monday: Louisiana Gubernatorial Election, Author John Pope, and Pollster Bernie Pinsonat

HOUR ONE: 

John Pope

John Pope  is the author of Getting Off at Elysian Fields: Obituaries from the New Orleans Times Picayune.  Pope worked as a staff writer at nola.com.  "An obituary is a story.  We're not doing lives of the saints," Pope says.  

Stephen Sabludowsky

Stephen Sabludowsky is the publisher of Bayoubuzz.com, a news and political website.  He is also an attorney.  He discusses the Gubernatorial election.  Sabludowsky says Vitter has a long way to go.  

HOUR TWO: 

Tony Guarisco

Tony Guarisco is a former Louisiana legislator.  He discusses the Gubernatorial election with pollster Bernie Pinsonat.  

Bernie Pinsonat

Bernie Pinsonat is a Louisiana pollster.  He discusses the Gubernatorial election with Tony Guarisco.  

11/13 Friday: Allen Toussaint, Gubernatorial Election, and Central Paris Shooting

Jim Engster

Jim remembers music legend, Allen Toussaint who passed away this week.  Jim also discusses the Gubernatorial election.  He believes that the Governor of Louisiana should be able to benchpress his own weight.  

Willie Robertson announced his support for David Vitter this week.  

Jim also comments on the Central Paris Shooting early today. 

The second hour of today's show is an encore of yesterday's first hour. 


11/12 Thursday: Mike Edmonson, Ed Chervenak

Hour 1:

Mike Edmonson

Superintendent of the Louisiana State Police Col. Mike Edmonson joins Jim in studio to discuss the death of the 6-year-old boy in Marksville, shot by city marshals.  The bond has been set for $1 million dollars for both officers charged in the shooting. Edmonson urges anyone with information on the case to come forward to State Police. 

Edmonson recalls his years working for State Police and the memories he's made. He comments on the letters from the Office of Motor Vehicles to drivers with a lapse in their insurance. 

Hour 2: 

Ed Chervenak 

University of New Orleans Pollster Dr. Ed Chervenak discusses their latest poll in the gubernatorial election, which finds Democrat John Bel Edwards having a 22 point lead over Republican David Vitter. 

Chervenak says many voters are disappointed in the direction of the state and highly disapprove of Governor Bobby Jindal. The poll also finds Republican Billy Nungesser with a significant lead over Democrat Kip Holden in the Lt. Governor's race.
