10/16 Friday: Author Simon Read, Saints' Win, LSU Game, and the Gubernatorial Election

HOUR ONE: 

Simon Read

Simon Read is a journalist and author.  He shares his latest book, Winston Churchill Reporting: Adventures of a Young War Correspondent.  Read discusses the early life of Winston Churchill and how he makes a name for himself in combat and as a war journalist.  

Marty Mule'

Marty Mule' is a veteran sports writer and has served a featured columnist for Tiger Rag since 2006.  He comments on the Saints' win this past weekend.  Mule' also discusses the LSU game against Florida tomorrow.  Mule' declares that Leonard Fournette has already surpassed football legend Billy Cannon in yards run.  

Quin Hillyer

Quin Hillyer is a newspaper columnist and writer for The Advocate.  Hillyer gives his opinion on the Gubernatorial endorsements by The Gambit and The Times Picayune.  He also predicts that John Bel Edwards and David Vitter will make the runoff. 

HOUR TWO: 

Scott WIlfong

Scott Wilfong is a conservative Louisiana political consultant.  He discusses the Gubernatorial election with Dayne Sherman.    

Dayne Sherman

Dayne Sherman is an author, speaker, and librarian.  He comments on last night's Gubernatorial debate at Louisiana Tech.  

10/15 Thursday: Deborah Sternberg, Fairleigh Cook Jackson, Charles Fountain, Darrell Glasper, Fernanda Zamudio-Suarez

Hour 1: 

Deborah Sternberg

President of B'nai Israel Synagogue Deborah Sternberg joins the conversation to talk about Jewish life in Louisiana.  Sternberg invites everyone to attend B'nai Israel's Art and Soul event. 

Sternberg says the Jewish community in Louisiana is very close knit and explains the differences in Jewish culture here and in New York City. She talks about the conflict in the Middle East. 

Fairleigh Cook Jackson

Jim is joined by Fairleigh Cook Jackson to talk about her new position as the executive director of the Foundation for Historical Louisiana. Jackson discusses what goes on in a typical day as executive director. Jackson gives light on some new projects going on in Baton Rouge and across the state. 

Charles Fountain

Author Charles Fountain joins the conversation to discuss his latest book on the 1919 World Series.

Former Metro Councilman Darrell Glasper joins the conversation to discuss the East Baton Rouge Parish Clerk of Court election. Current EBR Clerk of Court Doug Welborn is seeking reelection and running against Sarah Holliday-James. Glasper explains a few public records requests. 

A former employee called in to discuss her time in the East Baton Rouge Clerk of Courts office. 

Fernanda Zamudio-Suarez

Editor of the Daily Reveille Fernanda Zamudio-Suarez discusses how students on LSU's campus are going to vote. She says not many students are making a big deal about the upcoming gubernatorial election like they did last year in the senate race with Mary Landrieu and Bill Cassidy. 

10/14 Wednesday: Roger Stone on the Clintons' War on Women, Secretary of State Candidate Chris Tyson, and Tomorrow's Gubernatorial Debate

HOUR ONE: 

Roger Stone

Roger Stone is an alternative historian who was one the legendary American Republican political consultant who has played a key role in the election of Republican presidents from Richard Nixon to Ronald Reagan to George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush.  He discusses his latest book The Clintons' War on Women. Stone also comments on the Democrat Debate last night. 

Chris Tyson 

Chris Tyson is a candidate for Secretary of State.  He shares his campaign message with Jim as the elections are quickly approaching.  Tyson wants to increase voter registration and is open to new online and electronic methods of voting. 

Tucker Barry 

Tucker Barry is the Director of Communications for Louisiana Progress and the Managing Director of Equality Louisiana.  Barry is upset about the parameters of the Gubernatorial debate tomorrow night, which restricts media presence.  Louisiana Progress is asking for signatures for a petition and to tweet @LATech about the lack of spectator and media presence at the debate tomorrow. 

10/13 Tuesday: Dan Shapiro, Kris Millegan, Jesse McCormick, Donovan Jackson, Suzy Terrell, Gus Weill

Jesse McCormick

Jesse McCormick with Driving Louisiana Forward joins the show to talk about voting for Amendment 1 and Amendment 2 to improve the roads in Louisiana. McCormick encourages everyone to vote yes to fix transportation problems in the state. 

Donovan Jackson

Volunteer Director for Volunteers in Public Schools Donovan Jackson chats with Jim about the organization. VIPS is a program to help improve public schools and anyone over 18 can volunteer. 

Hour 2:

Suzy Terrell

The first and only Republican woman elected to statewide office in Louisiana Suzy Terrell joins the conversation. Terrell says discusses the upcoming election and early voting. 

Terrell says women don't always vote for women. She also comments on Senator David Vitter's latest campaign ad featuring his wife, Wendy. 

Gus Weill

Political Consultant Gus Weill joins the show discuss about the presidential election. Weill talks about the energy Bernie Sanders is bringing to the democratic side of the election. 

Weill discusses how Playboy will no longer show completely nude photos. 

10/12 Monday: The Gubernatorial Election and other Louisiana Elections and Secretary of State Tom Schedler

HOUR ONE: 

George Morris 

George Morris is a News Features writer for The Advocate.  Morris comments on the LSU v. USC football game this past weekend.  He commends the LSU fans for their hospitality which he "does not often see in SEC football games." 

Jim Brown

Jim Brown is the former Secretary of State and Insurance Commissioner of Louisiana.  He comments on the Gubernatorial election.  Brown gives his opinion on Senator Vitter, stating "if you can put away personal prejudice, he makes a good case."  Brown also goes on to express his admiration for Wendy Vitter.  

HOUR TWO: 

Tom Schedler

Tom Schedler is the Secretary of State of Louisiana, elected in 2011.  He comments on each of the four Gubernatorial candidates as elections are quickly approaching.  Schedler also discusses the problems of voter turnout nationwide and in Louisiana. 

10/09 Friday: Gulf Coast Shrimpers, Gun Violence, Louisiana State Police, and The Hunting of the President Documentary

HOUR ONE: 

Clint Guidry

Clint Guidry is the President of the Louisiana Shrimp Association.  He discusses problems facing Gulf Coast Shrimpers.  The price of shrimp has been going down because of foreign shrimp markets.  Guidry says Louisiana has approximately 5,500 licensed fisherman.  

Lindsay Nichols 

Lindsay Nichols is an Attorney at the Law Center to prevent gun violence.  She works for Smart Gun Laws.  Nichols says that Louisiana is low on the list of states with smart gun laws.  According to Nichols, more than 100,000 people are affected by shootings every year and more than 30,000 are killed. 

Frederick Forsyth 

Frederick Forsyth is a world famous thriller author.  He shares his latest book, The Outsider: My Life in Intrigue.  The book is a collection of about 50 stories of his life told in an anecdotal format which he says are akin to a story he might tell "with friends after the wine has been poured."  Forsyth comments on his time in MI6 and what his role was. 

HOUR TWO: 

Tom Aswell

Tom Aswell is the publisher of Louisiana Voice.  He discusses the problems within the Louisiana State Police.  Aswell accounts two instances of sexual misconduct of an officer on duty.  He also shares an account of a lieutenant who was found guilty of abusing prescription drugs.  

Harry Thomasson

Harry Thomason, a native of Hampton, Arkansas, was a high school football coach before entering the entertainment industry.  After six years of coaching, he started a small commercial production company in Arkansas that attracted national clients like Holiday Inn, GM and the United States Government.  Thomason then began making low budget features such as Encounter with the Unknown and So Sad About Gloria.  He is releasing and updated documentary of The Hunting of the President on Saturday at the Hotsprings Film Festival.  Thomasson is the Director and Screenwriter of The Hunting of the President
