Tom Aswell

Louisiana Voice Blogger Tom Aswell discusses his new book about Governor Bobby Jindal, which will be released in February. He's written books in the past, one recently about rock and roll. 

Aswell says we're not getting real investigative journalism anymore. He says it's all entertainment now. Aswell's advice to journalists: "There is always one more question to ask." 

John Camp

Blogger and Former CNN Investigative News Chief John Camp visits the studio to discuss his blog. He talks about people's reaction to comments he made on his blog. Camp says a blog isn't a news source, it's more editorial. 

Camp comments on the change in investigative journalism. He says nothing can be done with the current quality of journalism.

Phil Oakley

Former WBRZ News Director Phil Oakley joins the show to comment about how journalism and shifted since he first go into the business. He is currently living in California. 

Oakley has written two novels, the second will be released in the next few months. His book currently on the market is titled "Telegram."

Chuck Hustmyre spent 22 years in law enforcement and retired as a special agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF). During his career he specialized in violent crime, narcotics, and fugitive investigations.  In addition to his books, Chuck is also an award-winning journalist, having written more than 700 newspaper and magazine articles.

Shawn Anglim is a New Orleans Pastor who wants to see the Jefferson Davis monument removed.  

John Markoff

John Markoff is Pulitzer prize-winning New York Times science writer.  He shares his book Machines of Loving Grace.

Tony Guarisco is a former Louisiana state senator.  He discusses with George Sells the Gubernatorial candidates.  

George Sells

George Sells is a former Anchorman for WAFB and respected journalist.  He discusses with Tony Guarisco Louisiana politics and the Gubernatorial candidates.

The four major candidates for governor qualified this morning. David Vitter, Scott Angelle, John Bel Edwards, and Jay Dardenne commented on why each believe they will win the election.

Les Duhe

Political Consultant Les Duhe joins the conversation to discuss the upcoming governors race. 

David Hudson

Author of The Handy American History Answer Book, David Hudson, chats with Jim about the history of the United States, especially Louisiana history. Hudson says he really wanted to include information about civil rights in the book. 

Hudson discusses witnessing fights and claims the most significant fight he's even seen was when Mike Tyson fought Lennox Lewis.

Gay Smith and Dave Woods

Two long time, overseas pen pals, Gay Smith and Dave Woods, join us in studio to talk about their 50 friendship, which developed over a love for music. They first met each other in person 14 years after they met, in 1979. 

Both Smith and Woods says they've never had a love connection just became very close friends. 

Smith says they're letters go through so much history, telling each other about events going on in each country.

President and CEO of Louisiana Public Broadcasting Beth Courtney talks about the recent 40th anniversary of LPB. 

Brian Boyles

We're joined by Brian Boyles, Vice President of Content with Louisiana Endowment of Humanities, to discuss the Louisiana governors election and the Louisiana Governors Project.

Gubernatorial Q&A

According to the CDC, Louisiana has some of the highest rates of STDs in the country.  As governor how would you work with the state office of public health to reduce the number of sexually transmitted diseases.  

David Vitter: "Healthcare in Louisiana is ranked 48 in the country... 33.1% are obese... expanding primary and preventive care... dramatically improving education has to be the backbone of our path forward." 

Scott Angelle: "We are failing to educate our children... It is our duty to educate our children about the dangers of premarital sex... As a father of five children, I have often had these awkward conversations about the birds and the bees."

John Bel Edwards: "To do a better job of educating the public about STD's and transmission... We need to take a comprehensive look at healthcare access and education."

Jay Dardenne: "We must put an end to human trafficking and prostitution...  We need a governor who can speak to this issue with sincerity..."

HOUR TWO:

Judge Darrell White served twenty years of elective service on the Baton Rouge City Court.  He is the founder and president of the Retired Judges of America.  He discusses his views on the same sex marriage decision and how, if it does indeed, affect religious liberty.  He also comments on Donald Trump and the 2016 Presidential race and Ashley Madison.

Billy Cannon and Charles deGravelles

Heisman Trophy winner Dr. Billy Cannon and author Charles deGravelles join the show to discuss deGravelles' book Billy Cannon: A Long, Long Run. Cannon talks about his birth, growing up and his family's reaction after reading his biography. 

Cannon says the highlight of his day was going to practice in high school.  

Cannon served two and a half years in federal prison and was convicted in 1983 for his part in a counterfeiting scheme.

Mark Kram, Jr. 

Mark Kram, Jr. discusses the judge ruling in favor of Tom Brady in Deflategate. He says the public will always think he's wrong.

Charles deGravelles

Charles comes back in the second hour to discuss his biography of Billy Cannon.
